Dental Coating using Emax Lumineer Technology
What are Lumineers?
Lumineers are very thin dental coating shells made of strong, long-withstanding ceramic materials and are used to improve the colour and look of teeth. They are a cosmetic tooth coating procedure with a pain-free installation process as it does not require the removal of part of the tooth enamel (unlike veneers). The main difference between Lumineers and Veneers is in thickness. Lumineers consist of a very thin ceramic layer measuring 0.1 mm (must be less than 0.5 mm) that is placed on the tooth surface, while Veneers are much thicker (from 0.5 to 2 mm). Therefore, Veneers require minor filing of the tooth’s outer layer (enamel) in order to be placed in the space created.

Overview
of the Procedure
One of the main advantages of Lumineers is the ease of installation. First, the dentist will discuss the desired smile with the patient and recommend the most suitable type for him/her in terms of colour and appearance. Then, accurate measurements are taken and sent to the laboratory to fabricate the Lumineers. After Lumineers are prepared, they are used to coat the teeth which takes a few hours and depends on the number of pieces to be installed.
Post-Op & Aftercare
In order to maintain the Lumineers in optimal condition, the patient is advised to avoid certain activities that can lead to their damage, such as nut consumption or nail biting. In addition, it is best to schedule a follow-up visit to the dentist for cleaning in no longer than 6 months after the procedure is done, as well as being mindful of regular hygiene.

Anesthesia:
Anesthesia is not needed for installation as Lumineers do not require any tooth filing, although some edge definition can be done in rare cases.
Duration of Stay:
The patient must remain in Istanbul until all tooth coating sessions are performed, after the consultation appointment. Depending on dentist confirmation, there will be no need to stay once coating is finalised, which takes a minimum of 5 days.
